Áedán’s matura project gets under way

In the Swiss Grammar School system, each student has to do individual project work in their last year. After a discussion over a Christmas beer with our neighbour Tim, Áedán has the interesting project of sending a video camera down water wells of up to 200 m depth under considerable water pressure, and retrieving the camera and contents, safe and sound! Tim is involved in projects in the former Soviet Union, where it is of interest to check whether the wells, which are vertical pipes between 15 and 50 cm diameter, are damaged in any way, and at which depths. The pictures show the first prototype and the video shows him conducting his first dry run in a piece of 40 cm pipe donated by the people replacing the waterpipes in the main road near our house
