The wood decking on the roof terrace had reached the end of its useful life after around 11 years. So we decided to rebuild the decking ourselves. The whole family was involved in carrying wood, earth and tools up and down. Also, the building work meant moving the contents of the roof terrace around to free up the next working area, and of course replacing earth in those ever so heavy pots. The lead engineers were Seán and David. Despite the fact that we changed our design significantly at the beginning (which meant buying more construction wood), and the fact that it rained quite considerably during the building work, we got the new terrace completed over the Easter weekend, with results that can be seen!
